III. Preparations for the Next Class: The Collaborative Essay
- For this upcoming project, You need to come to class with a 600-word essay. You can choose reading response #4 where you rhetorically analyzed a performance or speech. OR, you can choose a video or live performance of your own favorite artist (musical, poetry, etc). You have three things to do in this essay: 1) offer a compelling reason why this particular artist/speaker should be taken seriously; 2) explain the political and historical relevance of the timing of the performance and speech; 3) describe the rhetorical effect and success of ONE important element of the speech/performance that you have chosen.
- Which will you choose and why? Be prepared to state this in a go-around. Listen closely to see if you might find a partner in the room with a similar interest/issue (you cannot pick the same video/performance).
IV. Small Group Discussions of the Digital Justice Topic
These groups are still tentative but will be finalized next week:

What you Must Do and Can expect for the next class
- You need to bring in the final essay for what you are choosing for the collaborative project.
- Choose the video you wrote about in reading response #4 OR choose a whole different video based on a favorite musician's live performance, live poetry, etc. It needs to be at least 600 words.
- If you choose reading response #4, you must do the editing that is starred on your homework.
- If you come to class without an essay, you will be marked ABSENT. In other words, you need not come to class if you have not done the work. I will come around to each of you and ask to see your essay. It needs to be a new essay altogether or a revised #4!
- You will pick partners in class.
