I. Three-Question Interview (to be submitted at end of class)
II. Partnered Introductions
III. The Name Game
The name game is an activity that we will do for the beginning of the semester. At the start of each class, 4-5 people will have to go around the room and say everyone’s name. This activity is meant to form community. This may be the only class you have this semester where you know everyone’s names and interact with them significantly. This is something to be taken seriously—hence, we start this course by making sure we know everyone’s names! We have enough new people this semester that we need to do this.
IV. Overview of the Course Website and the 1st Assignment
V. Reminder for Homework for Next Class
Please also remember to bring your portfolios to class (or your weblink if you did a digital portfolio)
- What was the best thing about last fall (or the last semester you were in college)? Why?
- What was the worst thing about last (or the last semester you were in college)? Why?
- What are your goals for this semester's English class? Why?
- Describe your ENG101 portfolio. What can I expect to see (you need to bring it with you to class on Wednesday!)
II. Partnered Introductions
- Please do not sit/meet with someone you already know!
- Feel free to write down your partner’s answers as you will need to remember what they tell you. Please try and partner with someone who you do not know.

- Please remember that there is an agenda like this for every class. If you miss a day, look at the agenda. Do not send an email asking what you missed.
- Feel free to comment to any post here at this website. We will discuss your question or share the contribution that you made.
- Please also get in the habit of pointing out website typos to Carmen. This is something that we will need to do for one another as we design websites.
- Please add password and lab room number to your syllabus!
