I. Name Game & General Announcements
- Congratulations to Abby, Carey, Imran, Ivy, Jae, Kelly, Krisleidy, Manny, Steven, Tyler who have already received their name game point!
- Today's Go Around: Give Your Name, Your Major and Minor(s)... and then tell us your career plans/aspirations--- if you could do what you wanted (no barriers), what would that be?
- Please make note of the password for the course website!
II. Discussion Groups
- Everyone needs to share some aspect of their writing today in small groups. The class is too large to have full class discussions and hear EVERY voice so we will use small groups.
- Please choose your group facilitator before your group gets started. Carmen will roam and eavesdrop, just to get a sense of people's ideas. The facilitator must take notes on the discussion. Make sure everyone's name is on the notes.
- Share one thing you read from your article that you think your colleagues should hear and share your own personal comments on the issue.
- Go around the group until everyone has shared.
- As a group, discuss the central question: WHAT are digital literacies in the 21st century?
- The facilitator should write (or email/ use your phone if you like) a note to Carmen listing all group members' names and brief notes to #2 and #4 above. Be prepared to report this to the class. Please note that as a facilitator, you are NOT telling the class what YOU think but what YOUR GROUP actually said.
- Be prepared, as the facilitator to report to the class.
- The facilitator must submit notes at the end of class.

About Digital Literacy Narratives
Students across the country are writing what are called digital literacy narrative (also called technology literacy narratives). Our first project is going to build on this trend. We will go over the point-spread next week. For now, just know that whatever story you tell, you will need to choose one of the following: a B&W zine with images (using regular word processing), a 3D scrapbook (videotaped for later embedding), or an interactive online timeline. Decide now somewhere in the back of your head which one of these formats you want to try.
