III. This Week's Focus: "Done Signed My Name"

Announcement: There is no IRL class on Wednesday, March 12. You have two tasks in lieu of class: 1) All assignments from #1-8 and project #1 must be submitted on D2L by 5:20, the end of class. 2) For attendance, you will have a midterm self-evaluation that is due by 5:20, the end of class. It will be available via this website and in an email reminder on Wednesday morning (look for March 12 at this website under THE CYPHER main tab).

February 25, 2021: Kirk Franklin, set up with his band and choir in a corner of Uncle Jessie's Kitchen in Arlington, Texas (named after a long time close friend, featuring a large photo of the iconic "I AM A MAN" protest signs from the 1968 Memphis Sanitation Strike on the wall). For nearly 30 years, Franklin has been widely regarded for revolutionizing gospel. He incorporated secular music, particularly Hip Hop, while preserving the message and integrity of traditional gospel. Here, he and his powerhouse choir pace through a decades-long, sixteen Grammy-award winning discography of faith, praise and encouragement while cracking plenty of jokes.
