Part I. Announcements​

• Remember to bring a device that you feel comfortable using to go online, make slides, create images, etc!

• If you are 100% sure of your presentation's topic, add it to the sign-up sheet.  Topics will be added to the sign-up sheet as we go along.  Make sure you do NOT duplicate a topic.
• All presentation links must be emailed (with editor access) the day before (the slides do not need to be complete)

A Note on Language:

• Negro & Colored People are socially unacceptable today and most often used as satire on social media (orgs like NAACP keep the naming based on its original birthdate); African American (US-based) and Black are today's terms
• People of color (POC) is not the same as colored people
• BIPOC (Black & Indigenous POC); IBPOC (popular in Canada)

DIRECTIONS: As always, choose a facilitator. Your group must create a google doc.  Give it a catchy title.  Include everyone's name and indicate the facilitator.   As a group, answer the questions below.  Try not to write this in a boring way. No computer-sounding prose! Play with fonts and colors if you like. You can include visuals and lay it out anyway you like too (it will be shared with the whole class). You can all write on the document all at once or have a few scribes. When the group is done, share the google doc (with editor privileges) to [email protected]

2. What was an early critical moment in Black Twitter?  Why?
3. What was a later critical moment in Black Twitter?  Why?
4. What is/was the importance of Black Twitter?  How did it shape what we understand today as the role of the "digital"?
5. Explain the hashtag in your reading.  What are the lessons here--- politically, culturally, digitally?
